Senior Consultant

Jane Henry

Area of services: Clinicians, Compliance and operations

Most recently, Ms. Henry had oversight of Pharmacy, Respiratory Care, Neurodiagnostics, and Laboratory at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka, Kansas. She was responsible for combined annual budgets of approximately $30 million and more than 180 staff.

During her tenure at St. Francis, Jane was able to redesign and remodel the pharmacy department to support an integrated, clinical model of pharmacy practice. She also restructured pharmacy workflow based upon LEAN principles which included deployment of pharmacy technicians to the Emergency Department, the Ambulatory Cancer Clinic and Infusion Center. She also instituted a pharmacist-managed anti-coagulation service and achieved major improvements in patient safety by implementing smart IV pumps and USP 797 standards for sterile products production.

Jane was also able to initiate numerous cost-cutting and revenue-increasing projects. As a result, her facility was able to achieve the lowest drug expense per adjusted patient day and highest percentage compliance with purchasing bid items among all hospitals in the entire health system. Because of her leadership abilities and success in containing costs, she was selected to be the pharmacy representative to their group purchasing organization, representing pharmacy on behalf of all hospitals and clinics in that system.

Over the years, one of Jane Henry’s favorite activities has been teaching and mentoring pharmacy students to make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of their patients. In 2008 she was named Preceptor of the Year by the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy.

Her leadership skills were recognized when she was elected to the board of directors for the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) and as President for both the Kansas Society of Health-System Pharmacists (KSHP) and the Kansas Pharmacists Association. To date, she is the only person who has served as president of both Kansas professional pharmacy associations.

When Jane is not engaged with client projects, she enjoys hiking in the Rocky Mountains. She is also a fan of music and theatre and often attending plays and musicals.
